VIP REVIEW: Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer

Hi guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

So, today we're doing something a little different.  I've never taken on other bloggers for posting/writing assistance, and I'm not about to start now (sorry...nothing personal!), but I may from time to time indulge fellow book lovers that don't have a bloggy outlet (nor the time to create one) to share their enthusiasm about a title.  I mean, posting on retail sites is fine and dandy, dandy and fine, but sometimes you just want to speak directly to other bookish souls who'll really GET where you're coming from...you know what I mean?  Hence, the creation of VIP Reviews!

It's not a new site, merely a new series of posts on my site that may crop up now and again.  So, whatcha think?  Keen on the idea?  Well, I sure hope so because our inaugural post is not just an intro, but an actual living (not really), breathing (no, that'd be creepy) mini-review from a book fan in my own life...Mom.  Yeah, I know...some of you are going awww, how sweet while others are rolling your eyes, but hey...she's the one that introduced books to me (in the womb, no doubt!  Story for another day...) and when she goes entirely gaga over a book, well....it's time to listen up.  So, without further ado, let's get this party started!  Today's VIP REVIEW shines on...

Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1)

Last Survivors series, Book 1

About the book...
Miranda’s disbelief turns to fear in a split second when a meteor knocks the moon closer to the earth. How should her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis wipe out the coasts, earthquakes rock the continents, and volcanic ash blocks out the sun? As summer turns to Arctic winter, Miranda, her two brothers, and their mother retreat to the unexpected safe haven of their sunroom, where they subsist on stockpiled food and limited water in the warmth of a wood-burning stove.

Told in journal entries, this is the heart-pounding story of Miranda’s struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all--hope--in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar world.

What Mom says...
I've always liked to think of myself as an avid reader BUT here's one I missed!  It's a real gem.  An asteroid is about to impact the moon.  The size has been miscalculated.  It is MUCH larger and instead of merely an impact or glance, it KNOCKS the moon right out of its normal orbit.  The catastrophes it causes are HORRIFIC.

As for the writing, the reality factor is A+.
It seems so real, it's hard to distinguish where it ends and your world begins, and once you start, you simply won't be able to put it down.  The realism is truly wonderful and the ending most unexpected...and considering there's MORE to come, I can't imagine where it will lead us next.  Good thing I don't have to...reading book two now!

Read it and you'll enjoy it, of that I'm certain.
