About the book...
When Maisie Meadows finds herself single and jobless on New Year’s Day, she resolves that this will be the year she focuses on bringing her scattered family back together. Romance is all very well, but it’s the people you grew up with that matter the most.

But a new job working at an auction house puts her in the path of Theo, a gorgeous but unattainable man who she can’t help but be distracted by. As their bond begins to grow, Maisie finds herself struggling to fulfil the promise she made to herself – but the universe has other ideas, and it’s not long before the Meadows family are thrown back together in the most unlikely of circumstances…

Can dealing with other people’s treasures help Maisie to let go of the past, and teach her who she ought to treasure the most?

This is the story of one woman's journey out of relationship heck and into a life that's one size fits HER.  It's not always pretty, it's not always perfect, but it's hers and really, what more are any of us looking for?

Image result for life

Maisie is such a kind soul with a big heart and while her instincts regarding the opposite sex, whether they have potential or are possibly shady characters, is a bit off center, and her desire to see her family as one big happy unit a bit misguided, it simply makes her more lovable AND relateable.  I mean who among us hasn't tried to find THE ONE only to crash and burn?  Who out there hasn't wished they could connect or reconnect with their blood relations, only to see the light when things were better left as is?  Who can honestly say (once you've reached a certain age) that they've never tried to set their life on the right path a second (or third, or fourth) time, only to figure out that it wasn't your life that needed changing, but their inner compass?  Exactly...as I said, relateable.  Now that being said...

As much as I felt for our girl Maisie's life adventure, and adored the final outcome of her choices (totally played out in the most adorable way possible!), I wasn't as invested in things as I wanted to be.  For me, the connection to the lost tea set just didn't come to fruitation.  I mean, I saw what happened, and when it happened, but I just couldn't buy in to it being more than coincidence...so that being a BIG chunk of the story left me feeling a bit on the outside.  Now, once the power of a great cup of tea (from this particular set) is revealed in truth (HA!  Inside joke...), I was back on board with that particular aspect of the story...but until that point in time, I could have taken that part or left it.

Ha!  I couldn't resist.  Another inside joke...LOL!

All in all, a great reminder that while bloodlines may run strong, FAMILY is truly determined by who we choose to have in our inner circle not simply our DNA.  Maisie will steal her way into your heart, as will the over the top Johnny (love him!), the golden hearted Theo (you sir were a conundrum!), and the rest of the auction house staff/family (brilliant!), leaving you with a thankful heart that much better for making their acquaintance.

About the author...

Jenni Keer is a history graduate who embarked on a career in contract flooring before settling in the middle of the Suffolk countryside with her antique furniture restorer husband. She has valiantly attempted to master the ancient art of housework but with four teenage boys in the house it remains a mystery. Instead, she spends her time at the keyboard writing women's fiction to combat the testosterone-fuelled atmosphere with her number one fan #Blindcat by her side. Much younger in her head than she is on paper, she adores any excuse for fancy-dress and is part of a disco formation dance team.

The Hopes and Dreams of Lucy Baker was published in January 2019.

The Unlikely Life of Maisie Meadows is out in July 2019 [as in now!].

Oh, so sorry it's just UK. Feel a meanie but when it's worldwide postage becomes massive. However, thanks for the cover comment. Isn't it cute?
