RRR presents... FAMILY SECRETS AT HEDGEHOG HOLLOW by Jessica Redland - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we’re heading back to Hedgehog Hollow (gosh I LOVE that name, don’t you?!) as author Jessica Redland’s latest release makes the blogosphere rounds with Rachel’s Random Resources. It begins just where the last let off, so if you’ve been following along with Sam’s story, you’ll be quite pleased; if not and this is your first time visiting, you won’t be lost...promise. Ready or not, here comes today’s blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

Family Secrets at Hedgehog Hollow
by
Jessica Redland

About the book...
Every family has its secrets, and at Hedgehog Hollow there is no exception...

It was always Samantha's dream to run her beautiful rescue centre, Hedgehog Hollow, full-time. But just as her wish comes true, she becomes a victim of her own kindness when she finds herself with a house full of guests - all with their own problems and secrets - looking to her for support.

When her self-absorbed cousin, Chloe, unexpectedly turns up at the farm - swiftly handing over her baby to Samantha to care for – trouble is definitely brewing. Especially as Chloe won’t tell anyone why she’s left her husband, James...

As Samantha juggles new hedgehog arrivals, family dramas and her own health challenges, it soon becomes clear that she needs to start putting herself first for once. Little does she know that life-changing secrets from the past are about to unravel and turn their lives upside down...

Return to glorious Hedgehog Hollow with top 10 bestseller Jessica Redland for a heartwarming, emotional but uplifting story of family, friendship and moving on from the past.

Right from the start…
...I knew this was going to be a TOUGH one.
Not the reaction you were expecting, right?
Well, for those who know the characters, you’ll probably have guessed why right from the start.

Sam is celebrating her recent engagement, or well at least she should be, but those she wants to share the news with seem to be keeping her at more than arm’s length, and a text message seemed so impersonal, until it wasn’t, and the outcome seemed catastrophic. Okay, so Chloe’s arrival wasn’t purely prompted by the news being delivered so, but it definitely seems to ignite a chain of events that spiral into a long boxed up memory being dredged up from the depths, a potential separation that may be longer than expected, and a surprising twist of events that you won’t quite see coming.

I loved catching up with Sam and friends, as well as the familiarity of the setting.  It makes it feel like old friends you're catching up with every time you pick up the next installment.  Honestly though, I’m in the same boat with Chloe as I have been throughout the series...I just don’t like the woman. I understand her more now, and I’m glad to see some change, but all the backstabbing, big drama, and hate that’s been spewed have left their mark and I’m afraid it’s fairly indelible for me. That being said, I still enjoyed this story and her character’s growth, and being the soft hearted individual that I am, still feel bad for the past that has haunted her, and the future that she’s uncovered. Here’s hoping all turns to right. I was expecting a GIANT TWIST of events by story’s end, but not the one we received! I really saw that whole connection thing going another way, not that I’m disappointed in the least, but still...the nerve! Sorry, I’ve said too much, but you’ll have to read it to see...just cross your fingers that our gal Sam can pull through this one!

All in all, all is not well a Hedgehog Hollow...but with time, patience, and a whole lot of heart, it’s definitely on its way to happier times once again (minus that ending...OMG, that ending!). I know I’ll be staying tuned for our next visit to see just how it all unfolds...

Thanks for taking another trip to Hedgehog Hollow, joining in the blog tour and sharing your comments.

Thanks for the lovely feedback about the name Hedgehog Hollow. There used to be a hedgehog rescue centre near me called Sleepy Hollow which is just gorgeous so I took part of that as my inspiration.

Having read the rest of the review, I can't actually decide if you loved it or hated it lol! However, as you want to stay tuned to see what happens next, I'm hoping it's leaning more towards the positive side :-)

Thanks again for joining in x
